Frontier Farms is a sweet add-on. Its new crops — from blueberries to rice to pumpkins in three colours — look great, its animals are expressive, and its windmill actually turns in the wind. Sadly, charm only takes it so far.

Forty Crops, Few Purposes

Most of the new crops can be eaten, and a handful feed into new recipes. But beyond restoring a little hunger, there's little reason to grow one over another. Compare that with the best farming add-ons, where crops feed into trade, buffs or automation, and Frontier Farms feels thin.

The Harvest Festival

Every in-game month, villagers hold a festival where you can enter your biggest crop for a prize. It's cute the first time, but the rewards are cosmetic and the event never changes.

Worth It?

If you love building beautiful farms and want more variety, there's value here. If you want farming to feel like a system rather than a set dressing, look elsewhere.
