How We Score Marketplace Content

Every review on Marketplace Explorer ends with a score out of ten. Scores are shortcuts, not substitutes — we'd always rather you read the review — but they should mean the same thing every time. Here's how we arrive at them.

The Scale

Score	Label	What it means
10	Masterpiece	Sets a new standard for its category. Rare by design.
9	Amazing	An easy recommendation with only minor flaws.
8	Great	Excellent; a few issues keep it from greatness.
7	Good	Worth your Minecoins if the premise appeals.
6	Okay	Fine, but forgettable or noticeably flawed.
5	Mediocre	As many problems as strengths.
4 and below	Bad → Unbearable	Hard to recommend at any price.

We use half points (and occasionally tenths) when a piece of content sits between bands.

How We Test

• We buy everything ourselves. Creators don't get to see reviews before they're published.
• We finish it. Maps are completed, add-ons are played across at least three in-game weeks of survival, and packs are used in both new and existing worlds.
• We test on more than one device. At least one PC or console and one lower-powered device such as Switch or mobile.
• We play with friends. Anything that advertises multiplayer is tested with a party.

What We Weigh

For maps: design, pacing, originality and replay value. For add-ons: how well new content fits vanilla, stability and balance. For texture and skin packs: cohesion, readability and craft. Price is considered, but it's never the deciding factor — a great 1,340-Minecoin map beats a mediocre free one.

Updates

Marketplace content changes. When a major update meaningfully changes our opinion, we'll revisit the review, note the change at the top, and update the "Last updated" date.

Editor's Choice

Anything scoring 9 or higher earns an Editor's Choice tag. It's our way of saying: if you only buy one thing this month, make it this.
